How to shift subtitle timing
- 01Open the subtitle sync tool and upload your SRT or VTT file.
- 02Enter the offset in seconds (e.g. 2 or -2), or tap a quick preset.
- 03Click Apply and download the re-timed subtitles.
Time shifting features
Fractional offsets like +1.5 or -0.3 seconds work exactly as expected on every cue.
Cues that would start before zero are clamped to 0:00, keeping the output valid for every player.
SRT stays SRT, VTT stays VTT - only the timestamps move.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know how much to shift?+
Play the video with subtitles and note when a line appears versus when it is spoken. If subtitles show 2 seconds early, shift by +2.
What happens to cues that go below zero?+
They are clamped to 00:00:00,000 so the file stays valid. Very short cues may effectively disappear, which is usually desired.
Can I shift only part of the file?+
Not here - the whole file moves by one offset. For multi-part fixes, split the file, shift parts separately, then merge with the Subtitle Merger.
Can I shift subtitles by a fraction of a second?+
Yes. Enter a decimal offset such as 0.5 or -0.5 seconds; the tool shifts the entire file and keeps the original SRT or VTT format.
